Ever since we started 2018 I had been aching to try the Oak Cliff Coffee Ale produced by Deep Ellum Brewing Company.
Actually, that is a lie. I had been waiting since 2015 or so.
You see, they only come up for three months out of the year.
So Friday, after posting at the mall we finished up and went to Whole Foods where we picked up several new things to try- including: the Coffee Ale, beef bacon, and Camembert cheese (upon Nevaeh’s request).
One out of three ain’t bad. Here’s our thoughts:
1. Coffee Ale- tastes like beer. I shouldn’t have been surprised. Since I am not a fan of beer, I plan to make chocolate coffee beer bread out of it.
2. Beef bacon- is good. More mild tasting than traditional bacon and not a greasy (though more greasy than turkey bacon).
3. Camembert cheese- smells bad and initial taste is wicked too. After taste is decent. Going to make a cheese sandwich with it and cranberry bacon jam.
Needless to say, I’m grateful I like being in the kitchen and can be creative!
