I still don’t know how I have not written about wontons or orange chicken. It is just mind boggling to me!
Side note (but equally as mind boggling): The house from the television show I wrote about yesterday is the Munsters
I attempted wontons and it was such a hit that when I come up with the idea for the week, the girls always get super excited.
I do deep fry them. One time Nevaeh was helping me and she burned her fingers on the metal spoon I used to scoop out the little balls of greatness. She told me later that night that it was “worth it”. I am so impressed with her spirit sometimes. What a trooper!
Anyways, back to the orange chicken. This is another “yeah!!!” recipe. When we go to the local Chinese restaurant, that is our most requested item. The hubs normally gets some beef stir fry but he is the only one who eats it. When I made it one night, Bre told me that it was as good as the ones we get from the restaurant. Parenting win, right? After all, I know what’s in it and once we get an orange tree, I really will!
Without further ado, here’s the recipe for ya!
- 3-4 chicken breast, cut into pieces
- 1 cup cornstarch
- oil, for frying
- 1 Cup BBQ Sauce
- 1 Cup Orange Marmalade
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
- Heat oil in a skillet. While it's warming, place the chicken in a bag with the cornstarch and shake with all your might. Once skillet is warmed add chicken, cook for three minutes, then flip and cook for another three minutes.
- Add the sauce ingredients and place over the chicken, cooking for another three minutes or until the sauce has thickened and coated the chicken.
- Let cool and enjoy!
