One of the best things that I have done for myself was to join Circle Seven Five. It has allowed me to do things that my family might not want to do (and go to places that we probably would not even think about going to) and have some girlfriend time at least once a month. It’s kind of like a sorority for adults!
One of the events I went to was hosted by a woman who lived right off of Klyde Warren Park. Every day she saw the food trucks and wanted to go down but did not want to by herself. Understandable. So she hosted an event where we would all go together.
Only problem was it was early November and most of the food trucks were closed by dinner time. Not because it was super cold but because it was dark. Again, understandable.
So we decided to go to Lark at the Park which was only about two blocks from her apartment. It was dim lit and very nice. You could see the cooks making the food to the right of our table.
I think the best part though was having to look up items to see what they were. Until that point I had never tried risotto balls. Everyone kept getting googly-eyed over them so I said “Why not?” I also went with their wild mushroom persillade. Persillade is a seasoning mixed with parsley, garlic, and oil. I topped my dinner off with a cream soda, nothing too fancy.
The girl sitting across from me, Chiara, and I talked about the need to learn about wine.
If you ever want to try something new, organic, and out of the traditional American fare (more upscale than normal) then give Lark at the Park a try!
