In July 2013 my family went on vacation to the Mall of America in St.Paul, Minnesota. On our way back, we drove through a town called Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. They had water parks everywhere. Then I spotted it… Great Wolf Lodge.
I joked that we should skip work and stay just one more night. My husband liked the idea and began to drive off the exit. I quickly told him that I could not do that and we drove away. That’s one of those few times we as humans talk about, it is not what you have done but what you have not done that you regret.
Before moving to Dallas, the girls and I would spend hours watching videos of things to do and places to visit around the area. We were stuck on Great Wolf Lodge for several days. It was only natural that before our one year anniversary in this great city, we had to visit. Even better- we took an out-of-town visitor (Mimi or Mom, depending on who is talking) with us.
We have been back one more time since then and have plans to go again this summer. Not once but twice- to two different Great Wolf Lodges. The one that we stay at most- in Grapevine and to one in Colorado Springs, Colorado while we are on my graduation trip!
The number one specialty of Great Wolf Lodge is their water park. Our favorite rides are the Howlin’ Tornado (the funnel ride) and Coyote Cannon (the toilet bowl ride). Nevaeh and I bumped heads coming out of the Coyote Cannon the last time we visited… we were going that fast! They spent the most time at Fort Mackenzie. Mom and I even sneaked over to the adults only hot tub.
It only gets better… the Colorado Springs resort is going to have the Wolf Tail Water Slide. This slide drop a rider from standing and does a 360 degree flip! I cannot wait!
Here’s a link to our fun on Youtube. There’s more about this awesome all-inclusive resort coming later this month!
