I’m essentially just making a list here of the foods I want to grow in the 2017 season, after we purchase our home. I would really like to grow 90% of our food ourselves. Meat, wheat, and milk maybe the only things we have to purchase!
Banana Peppers (two or three bushes will reap enough for a year. I may add around four because I can share that way!)
Blueberries (I had one this year it is healthy but did not produce. Pretty sure it needed a friend so I will definitely be giving it at least three and some bees so it grows fruit)
Green Beans Kale
Cantaloupe (for B, my mom, and anyone else who likes them because I don’t)
Carrots Kohlrabi (will be a new one for me, yeah!)
Eggplants (oh yum! I’m drooling already) Potatoes
Herbs (will be keeping our mint and basil through the winter)
Squash (summer and winter) Tomatoes
Strawberries (purchasing additional and keeping ours from this year)
Most of the Spring Plants will continue (minus strawberries), plus in early August I will add Pumpkins
Again, most of the spring/summer plants will continue (benefits of living in Texas) but I will also add:
Brussels Sprouts (for Veah and myself)
Cauliflower (mmmm…. Cauliflower Pizza Crust)
Winter: Most of the Spring/Summer stuff has died now, with the exception of ground vegetables like potatoes and carrots. We have:
Asparagus (I have heard these take three years to really produce… I hope not. Also, they are odd because they grow like we eat them directly from the ground)
As I stated, I would like to have bees (and dream of owning a Flow Honey Hive) and I think some chickens would be a good idea too.
I will add more as I can think of them… next up is figuring out which plants are complimentary to one another.
