I find it a bit ironic that I am starting a “diet” or as I like to call it, a new lifestyle today, and am sharing with you a recipe for French hot chocolate.
Here’s the deal with my diets though- they should be lifestyle changes and I don’t eliminate any category of food. I do cut down on my sugar and my carbohydrates from bread, as well as try to increase my intake of fruits and vegetables.
That’s what we should all be doing, don’t you think?
So don’t expect Coffee, Love, Travel to turn into a weight-loss, diet food style blog. In the same respect, my blog tailors to my life. It’s my journal of sorts, so there will be more healthy, full of taste recipes in the future. How soon? I’m not sure, but hang on because we’re in this together!
If you notice, everything in this picture uses store brand except for the chocolate. Since chocolate is the big part of this recipe, you want to make sure you have high quality chocolate.
Also, since there is heavy cream in this, had the whip canister been at my mom’s I wouldn’t have bought the product from the store but you do what you have to do!
Combine milk, heavy cream, powdered sugar
in a pot over medium heat, stirring and making sure not to let it boil over.
Turn heat to low and
let the chocolate melt. See my chunks? That’s because I used chips. Next time, I’ll buy the bar! Once it’s fully mixed,
Pour into Cups and enjoy!
Yes, it’s that simple!
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp. powdered sugar
- 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate- try not to use chips, I used 60%
- Whipped cream, if desired
- Warm up the first three ingredients over medium heat until warmed to taste.
- Turn to low, add in bittersweet chocolate- stirring until melted.
- Once melted, place into four cups and add whipped cream if desired. Enjoy!
